Gothic style library with church type detailing e.g. gargoyles for waterspouts, rose windows, mixed with classical columns on lower windows. Brick construction with limestone used on window surrounds, doors and gables. Sandstone lower string course/plinth. Giffnock Sandstone also on some windows/string courses. Plinth changes from Scrabo Sandstone to basalt. String course above plinth is red sandstone (possibly Scottish). Other string courses, window surrounds, and carved detail are in English Lower Jurassic Limestone
