Connemara Marble

Connemara Marble is Pre-Cambrian in age (around 700 million years old) and it is still quarried at Barnanoraun/Ballynahinch and Streamstown quarries in Connemara, Western Ireland where it has been quarried commercially since the early 19th Century. Connemara is a distinctive green marble with serpentine in varying shades of green, sepia and grey along with calcite and dolomite. Its distinctive colouration has made it an extremely popular decorative stone and it has been shipped around the world, examples of use include Trinity College, Dublin, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and Kensington Palace
